Future of Hydraulic Technology

Hydraulic technology has been around for hundreds of years and has remained a lasting force in the modern world. Hydraulics appear in transportation like air crafts and trains, on smaller pieces of machinery like farming equipment, and in everyday tools and automobiles.

This originally simple technology, harnessing power from air and water through hydraulic cylinder parts in many forms, has found a place in the present and should be continued to be used for good into the future. Here are some newer uses of hydraulic technology and ways that experts are looking ahead.

Trash and Recycling

As the world continues to look ahead towards sustainable technologies, hydraulics could certainly play a part. Many forms of hydraulic technology are already present in trash compactors and recycling plants. With advances being made every day, these systems can become even more green and efficient. Environmentally friendly fluids are the core of these types of developments. Teams of scientists look to soybean and vegetable oils as replacements for more costly and harming fluids that are being used presently.

Fluids and Beyond

While cars already have some parts that utilize hydraulic technology, there is still room to grow, especially in hybrid vehicles. As the aforementioned eco-friendly fluids continue to be perfected, hybrid cars in particular will continue to benefit by pairing these fluids with lighter and more advanced hydraulics. No longer the clunky and heavy machinery of the past, modern hydraulics can ensure lightweight and stable systems.

The focus on green uses for hydraulics remains so present with technological teams because even as the world will grow and change drastically, perhaps most importantly as a shift away from traditional electricity and power occurs, hydraulics will still be available to power machinery. From the automobile industry to the marine world, agriculture, construction, aerospace, and even entertainment, hydraulics can (and will) help push the boundaries of science and technology.
